By accessing or using the website foodsafetyacademy.ca or the online platform at app.foodsafetyacademy.ca, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Food Safety Academy, the authorized training name for our online food handler program. The same business is also registered in Yukon under the municipal name GO YUKON (City of Whitehorse business licence). Both names refer to one operation at Unit 115, 113 Mallard Way, Whitehorse, Yukon.
Food Safety Academy provides an online food handler certification course that is equivalent in content and level to FOODSAFE Level 1, recognized by health authorities in British Columbia and Yukon. Our services include:
Individual enrollment: Upon payment, you receive access to the course for 30 days from enrollment activation. Your Food Handler Certificate, once issued, remains valid for 5 years and can be downloaded from your dashboard at no additional cost.
Group/company enrollment: The enrolling manager is responsible for ensuring all employees using the platform comply with these Terms.
Payment processing: All payments are processed securely by Stripe. Food Safety Academy does not store credit card information. Prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD) and include applicable taxes.
E-Transfer payments: Access is activated within 24 business hours of confirming receipt of payment. We are not responsible for delays caused by banking systems.
We offer a full refund within 7 days of purchase if you have not accessed any course content or started any module. To request a refund, contact support@foodsafetyacademy.ca with your order details.
No refund is available once you have accessed course content, started a module, attempted the final examination, or received a certificate. Approved refunds are processed within 10 business days where possible. Group enrollments may be governed by separate written terms.
By using our platform, you agree to:
A Food Handler Certificate is issued only upon passing the 50-question final exam with a minimum score of 70% (35 correct answers). Students may attempt the exam up to 3 times per enrollment, with a 24-hour wait between attempts. Certificates are valid for 5 years from the date of issue. We reserve the right to revoke a certificate if evidence of academic dishonesty is found.
Our certification is designed to be equivalent in content and level to FOODSAFE Level 1. While we develop our content to meet BC and Yukon food safety standards, acceptance of the certificate by specific employers or health authorities is at their sole discretion. We do not guarantee acceptance by any specific authority or employer.
All course content — including text, videos, graphics, quizzes, and the certificate design — is the exclusive property of Food Safety Academy and is protected by Canadian copyright law. You are granted a limited, non-transferable licence to access and use the content solely for your personal certification. No content may be copied, shared, or republished without our written permission.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Food Safety Academy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services, including but not limited to loss of employment, loss of income, or failure to pass a regulatory inspection.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the enrollment in question.
We strive to maintain platform availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We reserve the right to perform maintenance, update content, or temporarily suspend the platform. Access periods will be extended at our discretion if outages exceed 24 hours.
Your use of our services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using our services, you consent to the collection and use of your personal information as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users by email and post the updated Terms on this page. Your continued use of the service after the effective date of changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Yukon Territory and the laws of Canada applicable therein. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to the courts of the Yukon Territory.
